Mooloolaba Canal Cruise bus trip
35 of us headed up the Sunshine Coast on Friday 20 October and the weather was glorious after a wet start to the week. We had a lovely morning tea at Shelly Beach Caloundra looking out over the beach to the sea. There were a couple of ships passing as well. Some people took time to go for a walk along the beach. Unfortunately we had to leave this beautiful place and headed up along the Nicklin Way to Mooloolaba. Here we met our cruise boat the ‘M. V. Mudjimba’ and headed off on our one hour canal cruise up along the Mooloolah River for a little way, then turned around and headed up the main canal and back and then down to the mouth of the river and back to the wharf. The M. V. Mudjimba is a genuine historic timber ferry and used to operate on the Brisbane River. Along the way we saw lots of different and expensive houses and boats as well as fed around 18 pelicans. We disembarked and walked along to The Wharf Tavern for a very enjoyable 2 course lunch. After lunch we headed home arriving back at Redcliffe just before 4PM.
