Surfers Paradise Luncheon Cruise Trip

What a great day had by all last Friday (19 Oct). 43 of us headed off under sunny skies for the Gold Coast. Had a good run along the Gateway until we hit the merge with the M1, but did not delay us long. Stopped for morning tea at Arthur Earle park beside the Nerang River at Nerang where Margaret from Red & White put on a very very nice morning tea for us and Peter our driver served up the hot water.

After morning tea we headed off to Surfers Paradise through Broadbeach past the Pacific Fair shopping centre and the casino. Peter took us for a hot lap around Surfers before dropping us off at our departure spot for the luncheon cruise.

We where there a bit early, had allowed time for traffic due to the motor racing but it was not too bad. So we had time to stretch our legs again before boarding the cruise. Once we had all boarded and underway we started off by getting some drinks, some tried out the mocktails and then helped ourselves to a nice cold meat and salad buffet lunch. We enjoyed our lunch whilst cruising the beautiful waterways and canals around Chevron Island past million dollar homes of the rich and famous. After we had all eaten we sat back as we cruised up towards Southport under the Sundale bridge into the Broadwater looking at the luxury yachts, checking out Marina Mirage and Palazzo Versace. Then back down the other side of Chevron Island to where we departed from. We waited a few minutes whilst Peter dashed off to collect our coach to pick us up for our return trip.

Once we were all back on the coach we had time to draw our raffle (3 luck winners) before we started our return journey driving up past the Supercars race track at Surfers Paradise then up through Southport back onto the highway. Had a good run home, turned off motorway down past Toombul shopping centre onto Sandgate Road to avoid the Gateway as it was backed up a long way. Arrived back in Redcliffe just after 4.
