MALENY and KENILWORTH BUS TRIP

We ended up with 39 on our trip to Maleny and Kenilworth on Friday 15 March had a few last minute cancellations. We started out on our trip with a nice sunny and bright day. Had good travelling up the Highway and Steve Irwin Way arriving at Mary Cairncross Reserve around 9:45 AM for morning tea.

We then had some time to check out the Rain Forrest Discovery Centre as well as the great view over the Glasshouse Mountains. A couple of people even managed to do the 2 Km walk through the rainforest, most of us just did the small Glider Gallery walk through the forest to the second level of the Rainforest Discovery Centre. After about 80 minutes there we were back on the coach for our scenic drive through Maleny and Witta, down the range through Conondale to Kenilworth where we had lunch at the Kenilworth Hotel. On arrival at the hotel they had some cheese tasting plates on our tables from the Kenilworth Dairies. We then enjoyed a very nice lunch and a couple of cold drinks.

Most people chose to walk down the main street checking out the shops and some hopped back on the coach for the short drive down to the Kenilworth Dairies. Here most enjoyed a nice ice-cream and a lot purchased some cheese to take home. As part of the cheese tasting at the hotel we each received a 10% discount voucher to use at the dairy. We had put in an esky to take the cheeses home in.

Back on the coach we had the drawing the raffle prizes and then headed home just after 2PM. We headed towards Eumundi and back on the highway for our return trip. Traffic was not too bad going our way but was very bad in places going north. We arrived back in Redcliffe as it was just starting to rain; everybody should have got home before the heavens opened up.
