BUS TRIP to GATTON
31 of us headed off on a wet morning for our trip to Gatton. After driving through some rain, it stopped in time for us to have a very nice morning tea at Kholo Botanic Gardens where Margaret put on some lovely food and Chris provided the hot water for tea and coffee. Back on the coach arriving around 11:15 at Lockyer Valley Cultural Centre including Queensland Transport Museum in Gatton on the shores of Lake Apex which did not have much water in it. A guide took us on a tour of the museum explaining some of the trucks and cars on display. They are all on loan to the museum and they change them around regularly. Very interesting history on some of the trucks and a couple of race cars there as well. Some even tried out the race car.
We then had some time to check out the place before having a lovely two course lunch there in the Staging Post Cafe. After lunch had some time to stretch our legs and check out the rest of the place, some went for a walk around the lake. Back on the coach around 2pm where we drew the raffle before heading off down the back roads through Laidley to Plainland. He we stopped at Schulte’s Meat Tavern before getting back on the highway for our return journey. Arrived back in Redcliffe around 4:40 after a reasonably good trip home. Great day had by all that went.
