Airport Tour - April 2021 Bus trip

On Friday the 16 April, 40 members headed off on a glorious day for our tour of the Airport. We had an early morning tea at Nudgee Beach with a beautiful view looking back across Bramble Bay towards Clontarf and Woody Point. We picked up our Guide from the Brisbane Airport Corporation near DFO and started on our tour of the airport. The guide was very informative about what has happened and what is still to happen in the airport precinct. Drove under the underpass that the planes use to taxi to the new runway and passed the big new fire station and watched a couple of planes take off. After dropping off the guide we headed down to Myrtletown to check out the new cruise ship terminal. Drove through some gates I am not sure we should have to get as close as possible to the new terminal to have a good look.

Then drove over to Norths Devils Leagues Club for a lovely two course lunch. Back on the coach we drew the raffle before heading off for a city sights tour in through the Valley, down past the botanical gardens, up George St past the new casino being built and the old Transit Centre which has been demolished for the Cross River Rail. Drove down Caxton St past Lang Park onto the Riverside Expressway back along Main St over the Story Bridge and home through the Airport tunnel. It has been a while since a lot of people had been into the CBD and a lot has changed. As usual we got stuck in Friday afternoon traffic on the gateway, arrived back in Redcliffe around 4:15. A great day had by all and Brian our driver did an excellent job driving around the city in the coach and telling us all about what we were seeing.
