Stradbroke Island Bus trip
On a beautiful autumn morning, 46 members had an early start for our trip to North Stradbroke Island. Arrived at Cleveland in time to catch the 9AM car ferry over to Stradie. It was glorious crossing over Moreton Bay arriving at Dunwich 50 minutes later.
First off the ferry and headed straight to Brown Lake for morning tea. What a beautiful place to stop for morning tea.
Back on the coach for a short tour around Dunwich before heading off to Amity Point. We stopped along the way to check out the little boardwalk at Myora Springs. We then checked out the little township of Amity Point before headed over to Point Lookout on the ocean side of the island. Drove up the hill past some of the more expensive and larger homes overlooking Cylinder Beach before stopping at Point Lookout Bowls Club for a nice 2 course lunch. After lunch, back on the coach for a short drive up to the headland at Point Lookout. Here we had time to check out the Gorge Walk or take in the view and enjoy an ice cream. Unfortunately, the Gorge Walk was closed off in the middle for repairs, so you could only walk in about halfway on the northern side and check out the surf roaring in the gorge and then go back and come in from the southern side and check out the big long beach down the eastern side of the island, what a view. We then headed back to Dunwich to get in line for the 4PM ferry back to the mainland. While waiting for the ferry, we drew the raffle and passed around the lolly tin. Arrived back in Cleveland just before 5PM and headed home to Redcliffe. As usual, the Gateway was banked up back to Nudgee and we arrived back in Redcliffe around 6:20PM. A long day but everyone had a fantastic day out.
