Tour of the Port of Brisbane

A most interesting morning for us having a tour of the Port of Brisbane. After stopping at Colmslie Recreation Reserve for our usual enjoyable morning tea, we made our way to the Brisbane Port Authority building for a great overview of some of the port holding yards and island viewing before a tour, complete with knowledgeable guide around the port. We saw a huge number of blades for the new wind turbines which will be needed for our electricity in the future plus turbine pieces, cars, wood chip, sand for reclaimed land, oyster shells for a cleaner harbour, coal trains, and container yards etc. Interesting is the fact that all the big cranes, container movers are driverless, all controlled by computer. They are planning to enlarge the area where the cruise ships come in, so 2 ships can tie up at once. Then onto a great lunch at Redlands Sporting Club followed a good trip home.
