Trip to North Stradbroke Island

28 of us headed off on a lovely day for our trip to Stradbroke Island. Our driver was Tarnya, and she was training another driver, Jason to do the next trip to Stradie. We arrived at the car ferry terminal on time and had a smooth crossing over to Dunwich. We made our way to Brown Lake for morning tea, It is brown in color because of the tannins from the paper bark trees. We then crossed over the island to Point Lookout on the ocean side. Here some people did the 1.5km Gorge walk, some went part way and some just sat and enjoyed the view. The water in the gorge was fairly quiet, not raging like it can be. The colour of the water was so blue and very clear. Saw some of the damage done by cyclone Alfred to the café there and lots of tree damage.

Back on the coach to make our way to Amity Point to have lunch at the Amity Point Community Club. Lunch was very nice. After lunch we did a tour around Amity Point and also went looking for kolas. We saw one just near the club. Back to Dunwich where we visited the North Stradbroke Island Historical Museum and then did a short drive around the town before making our way to the vehicle ferry terminal ready to catch our 4:30PM ferry back to Cleveland. Another smooth crossing and we were the second vehicle off the ferry and started on our journey home. The traffic was kind to us on the gateway and we arrived back in Redcliffe around 6:15PM. A great day was had by all.
