Visit to O'Reilly's
We made our way down the M1 turning off at Beenleigh towards Canungra after a very early start from Redcliffe. We stopped here for morning tea in the local park. Back on the coach for a slow drive on a very windy road full of tight turns and one way sections up the McPherson Range to Lamington National Park O’Reilly’s. We stopped at Kamarun Lookout to check out the view, which was fantastic, but due to some low clouds could not see the Gold Coast.
Once at O’Reilly’s there was time before lunch to do the short walk to check out the Tree Top Walk. The Tree Top Walk consists of 9 suspension bridges up to 16 metres above ground. Or feed the birds, check out the gift shop or just have a look around. Also we could check out the replica of the Stinson plane that crushed in the Lamington National Park back in 1937 on its way to Sydney from Brisbane. We enjoyed a nice roast lunch in the dining room with its timber charm at O’Reilly’s Guest House. After lunch there was also time to do the walk for those that did not do it before lunch. Around 2PM we boarded the coach and drew the raffle before making our way back down the range through Canungra stopping at Yatala Pie shop where some people purchased a few pies. Arrived back in Redcliffe around 5:30PM. Great Day had by all.
